Lifelong barbershoppers and experienced educators\, they’ve taught at international conventions\, youth camps\, and regional events across the U.S. Both are accomplished singers\, arrangers\, and learning track creators—known for their engaging\, educational approach and deep love for the barbershop art form. \n\nYou can learn more about our clinicians below!\n  \n\nSLAM-DUNC\n \nSlam-Dunc is the dynamic educational duo of Michaela Slamka-Johnston and Mary Duncan—accomplished barbershop musicians\, educators\, and champions. As the tenor and baritone of ClassRing\, the 2014 Rising Star and 2019 Sweet Adelines International Quartet Champions\, they have performed and taught across the United States and internationally\, including featured appearances in Manchester\, England\, and on faculty at the International Education Symposium. \nBoth Michaela and Mary were born into multi-generational barbershop families and bring a lifetime of experience to their teaching. Together\, they have served as clinicians\, section leaders\, and educators at numerous youth barbershop camps and regional music education events. They are known for their accessible\, high-energy approach to coaching and their deep understanding of vocal pedagogy\, ensemble skills\, and performance craft. \nMary Duncan\, a third-generation barbershopper and second-generation quartet champion\, is a seasoned coach and learning track creator with a strong presence in Region 5\, where she is a faculty member. In addition to her extensive musical credentials\, she holds degrees in Chemistry and Bioengineering and is currently pursuing a law degree. \nMichaela Slamka-Johnston\, a fourth-generation barbershopper and third-generation quartet champion\, holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Music Education and Music Theory. She taught elementary music for five years and has produced learning tracks for over a decade. She also directs the Big Chicken Chorus and currently performs with the SAI silver medalist quartet Dynasty and the BinG! champion quartet Double Date. \nTogether as Slam-Dunc\, Michaela and Mary combine championship-level performance with a passion for education\, inspiring the next generation of barbershoppers with their warmth\, skill\, and dedication to the craft. \n\n\nEvent graphics provided by Laura DeGraw.
